A few more highlights from the sermon on the mount:
“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward…”
“And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites…they have received their reward”
“And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.”
Clearly, Jesus is teaching that heavenly rewards are for those who do the right things - in the right way!
Would that be an accurate assessment of the message of the New Testament?
Should there be a new Christian catchphrase? #justdoitright
Please join me this Sunday at DCC for “Sermon on the Mount IV”.
