June 24, 2012 at Dakota Community Church

Welcome to Dakota Community Church

Grace, Freedom, Laughter

Our aim in this service is to Glorify God by making much of Jesus and what He has done for us!

Today’s sermon is a continuation of our journey through the Book of Ephesians.

I trust that the Word of God will have the strong effect that the Lord desires upon you and that you will be able to see beyond any interference that may come me.

Sunday Morning Preview - June 24, 2012

This week we will get back down to work on the wonderful Letter of Paul to the Church at Ephesus.

If it were possible for us to hear your prayers, or to read the secret entries in your journal, (if you have one); we would discover a great deal about what matters to you.
We would understand your deepest desires and know your darkest fears because these are the things that a person prays about. We do not waste time in prayer concerning things of no consequence to us.

In this week's sermon, entitled; “Paul’s Powerful Prayer”, we will examine what “mattered” to the Apostle Paul, what he desired in prayer that is, for the precious flock of God in Ephesus.

Please preview the text using the link provided and then hopefully I’ll see you this Sunday!

Faith Alone by Martin Luther

Carry Each Other's Burdens
Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.Galatians 6:2

Everywhere love turns, it finds burdens to carry and ways to help. Love is the law of Christ. To love means to wish another person good from the heart. It means to seek what is best for the other person.

What if there were no one who made a mistake? What if no one fell? What if no one needed help? To whom would you show love? To whom could you show favor? Whose best could you seek? Love would not be able to exist if there were no people who made mistakes and sinned. The philosophers say that each of these people is the appropriate and adequate "object" of love or the "material" with which love has to work.

The sinful nature—or the kind of love that is really lust— wants others to wish it well and to give it what it desires. In other words, it seeks its own interests. The "material" it works with is a righteous, holy, godly, and good person. People who follow this sinful nature completely reverse God's teaching. They want others to bear their burdens, serve them, and carry them. These are the kind of people who despise having uneducated, useless, angry, foolish, troublesome, and gloomy people as their life companions. Instead, they look for friendly, charming, good-natured, quiet, and holy people. They want to live, not on earth, but in paradise; not among sinners, but among angels; not in the world, but in heaven. We should feel sorry for these people, because they are receiving their reward here on earth and possessing their heaven in this life.

Sunday June 17, 2012 - Welcome to DCC

Welcome to Dakota Community Church
Grace, Freedom, Laughter

Happy Father's Day!
Our aim in this service is to Glorify God by making much of Jesus and what He has done for us!
The worship time is not for our entertainment, it is not a talent show, or a warm up act for the sermon. We set aside time to forget about ourselves, to focus our attention on God - and to worship Him. Please join in as He is worthy!
Today’s sermon concerns the direction our Church is going, how we are making disciples and how ultimately we are endeavoring to bring glory to God.
Enjoy the service and feel free to follow along in the scriptures using the links below.

Sunday Morning Preview - June 10/12

Please join me at Dakota this Sunday morning for the usual great time of corporate worship which, this week, will include partaking of communion together.
My sermon is entitled “Where Our Church is Going” and is designed to clarify in all of our minds the specific ways that we believe the Lord is leading us as a community at this time. A few of the points I plan to cover include:
    • When we gather: The purpose of the Sunday meeting
    • After the equipping: Our Jerusalem, the highways and byways of Winnipeg
    • Putting the “world” in our worldview: Taking the gospel and experiencing life outside the North American bubble.
I hope to see you Sunday!
