Welcome to Dakota Community Church

Grace, Freedom, Laughter

We are a Christ centred, cross focused community of believers united by the good news of salvation by grace through faith!

We have seen the powerful transformative effect the gospel has on every individual who believes but now, in Part 3 of “Unity of the Body”; we are reminded that individuals do not live in lonely isolation. The gospel impacts and transforms whole communities as it seizes the hearts and minds of those it encounters!

Scripture for today’s sermon:

Ephesians 2:11-22; Psalm 145:1-2; Judges 8:22-23; Genesis 12:1-3; Luke 4:24-30; Luke 7:1-10; Matthew 15:21-28; Ephesians 2:14-15; Galatians 6:12-16; Hebrews 8:6-7; Titus 3:4-7; 2 Thessalonians 2:13-17; Luke 23:44-46

Restless Hearts

“You made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you.” – Augustine

All men seek happiness, this is the motive of every action of every man, even of those who hang themselves.” – Pascal

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” – Jesus

Come to Jesus today and find rest!
Come to the cross again and again, do not grow weary with self salvation, do not fall into a false gospel of human effort.
Peace and rest are found in Christ alone, on the day you first met Him, and on every day after!
Grace and Peace to you.

"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'     (Matthew 25:40)

Welcome and thank-you for joining us this morning at Dakota Community Church. Our prayer is that you will enjoy this time of friendship, worship and discovery and that you will leave here encouraged and strengthened in your faith.

This morning you are in for a real treat as special guest speaker Sean Goulet of the Lighthouse Mission leads us into the Word of God. Since taking over as Director at Lighthouse Sean has seen some exciting spiritual developments down on Main Street including the start-up of Friday night outreach church services connecting local congregations (Including DCC) with opportunities to ministry to those in need.

Enjoy the service.

This Sunday at DCC

Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints. And they did not do as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then to us in keeping with God’s will.  (2 Cor. 8:2-5)

It is my great pleasure to announce my good friend and director of Lighthouse Mission, the Reverend Sean Goulet as guest speaker at Dakota this Sunday morning! Sean always brings a great Word that is sure to bless and challenge us as we have need!

It is my sincere hope that each of you will come prepared to dig a little deeper, like the churches in Macedonia mentioned in the biblical passage above, that we might continue to participate in this important mission to those in need right here in our own city.

“Everyone Matters” Lighthouse Mission Hoodies will also be on sale in all sizes for $40 each.

See you Sunday!

Confidence

“If you do not build your confidence on the work of Christ, you must build your confidence on your own work. On this truth and only on this truth the church is built and has its being.”

This Sunday at DCC

What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.  (2 Timothy 1:13-14)

Let me begin by saying THANK-YOU! We have been literally overwhelmed by the show of support we have received this week. What a wonderful testimony to the value of the local church and to our DCC family in particular! We love you all very much and will never forget this outpouring of kindness and generosity.

In light of the hectic week we have had I have decided to wrap up the Apostle’s Creed message that we have been working our way through the last little while.

Truth is constantly being attacked because the god of this world is a liar and a deceiver. Some of these attacks are foreign in origin coming from outside of the Church Body, some are from within as a result of the fallen nature, and some are the result of misunderstanding and incorrect motive. I hope you will join me this Sunday morning as we examine a few points of doctrine and how they are being attacked in each of the above fashions.

See you Sunday!
